Sister Frances Cofield Historiographer - Statistician

Frances Cofield is a lifelong third generation A.M.E. active member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Kansas City, Missouri, serving as a trustee, W.M.S. Life Member, and Sunday School Teacher for over 55 years. Since August 1974 she has served as the Second Vice President of the Northwest Missouri Conference W.M.S., Fifth Episcopal District’s First Vice President and Ambassador to the Children of Promise in South Africa under the leadership of Bishop John R. Bryant and Rev. Dr. Cecelia W. Bryant. Frances received her Bachelor Degree in Vocational Home Economics with minors in Physical Education and Mathematics in 1964. She also earned two Masters and an Educational Specialist Degree from the University of Missouri Kansas City, Carver Bible College and the University of Central Missouri respectively. Frances has worked as an alternative education teacher and principal for at risk teenage mothers for over 44 years in the Kansas City, Missouri School District. In June 2010, she retired to home and community service work in several organizations: the local branch of the NAACP; Lincoln University Alumni Association; the Midwest Conference W.M.S.; Claudia B. Darden local W.M.S. and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Frances and her husband, C. Maurice Herron, reside in Kansas City, Missouri. They are the proud parents of two sons: Samuel Cofield, Jr. and Rev. Swayne A. Cofield, M.D. “On a mission with a vision to keep God’s covenant”
