2014 Executive Board Report

 

Dr. Harris is a successful entrepreneur, an innovative educator, and a compassionate church and community leader. She founded the first in Ohio African American owned Health Maintenance Organization in 1984. She employed over 100 employees, and operated an annual budget of $45 million dollars. She is the Co-Founder, President and CEO of the Richard Allen Schools in Dayton, Ohio. The schools collectively serve over 1600 students in Dayton, Hamilton, Ohio and Norcross, Georgia. She has been named Businesswoman of the Year – State of Ohio; Top Achiever Award by “Success Magazine” and was a distinguished board member of the Federal Reserve Bank Advisory Board reporting to former chairman Alan Greenspan. She is a former member of Wright State University Foundation Board and a member of the Dayton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She was called to testify to the U.S. House of Representatives on issues of health and education. Academic Achievements include: B.A. Business Administration – Southern Illinois University, Certificate of Advanced Studies in Business Administration from Harvard and Cornell Universities and an Honorary Doctorate from Payne Theological Seminary. Dr. Harris currently serves as the Connectional Treasurer of the Women’s Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She also is a founding member of the WMS Foundation Board of Trustees; she has held and served in several capacities in the Women’s Missionary Society on the local, conference and district levels. In addition, she serves as Treasurer for Payne Theological Seminary Board of Trustees. Dr. Harris is the wife of Rev. Dr. Earl G. Harris, Pastor of Greater Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church. She is blessed and proud of her blended family of 6 children and 11 grandchildren. “I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
