The American Red Cross, born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavors to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all peoples.  The Red Cross is a worldwide voluntary relief movement not prompted in any manner by desire for gain, in which all societies have equal status and share equal responsibilities and duties in helping each other.

 

Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.  Since starting operations in 1997, Dress for Success has expanded to more than 150 cities in 30 countries and has helped more than one million women work towards self-sufficiency.

 

Church Women United is a national ecumenical Christian women's movement representing Protestant, Roman Catholic, Orthodox and other Christian faith communities. Founded in 1941, as the United Council of Church Women, this organization has local and state units across the United States. CWU affirm that prayer and action are inseparable and that both have immeasurable influence in the world.

The National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) is a non-profit organization founded in 1935 with the mission to advance the opportunities and the quality of life for African American women, their families, and communities. NCNW fulfills this mission through research, advocacy, national and community-based services and programs in the United States and Africa. NCNW serves as a super organization which acts as a cohesive umbrella for the other African American groups that already exist.

The Children's Defense Fund helps deprived, excluded and vulnerable children living in poverty have the capacity to become young adults, parents and leaders who bring lasting and positive change to their communities. Promotes societies whose individuals and institutions participate in valuing, protecting, and advancing the worth and the rights of children.

Church World Service was born in 1946 with the mission to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, heal the sick, comfort the aged and shelter the homeless. The CWS Immigration and Refugee Program of CWS is a vital, internationally recognized operation, having resettled nearly half a million refugees since its inception.  CWS was one of the founding members of a global partnership of faith-based humanitarian agencies, ACT Alliance, with members in 140 countries. By working together agencies can maximize their impact.

Ecumenical Women is an international coalition of church denominations and ecumenical organizations. At the United Nations our Ecumenical Women coalition advocates for gender justice, incorporating annual advocacy trainings for our constituencies and delegations, network building and policy recommendations which challenge inequality and empower women worldwide.
The Balm In Gilead is known throughout Africa and the United States for its insightful understanding of religious cultures and values and extraordinary ability to build strong, trusted partnerships with faith communities. Black Women’s Agenda (BWA) is devoted to advancing, securing, and protecting the rights of these women. Constantly, the women of BWA strive to acquire greater understanding and cooperation about issues that affect all women and their families, while searching for new knowledge and new conceptualizations about said problems. Through the establishment of social priorities (an agenda), BWA facilitates discussions that lead to effective policies and meaningful change.
